“El Cambullón”, “Garganta Verde” and “Las Buitreras”.
These three great canyoning experiences are all within easy reach of Los Almendros. There are several short abseils and some great jumps into deep pools, as well as plenty of easy scrambling and some swimming.

“El Cambullón”, is a canyoning adventure that lasts three and a half hours. The experience level required is low to medium. We will travel down the river in surrounded karstic stones ( limestones ), proceeding with jumps and abseiling. The first abseiling point is 15 metres high, but the canyon gets narrower further on, with two more abseiling points, 7 and 12 metres high respectively. In total there are 18 abseiling points which makes this a great canyoning experience.

The “Garganta Verde” is located in Zahara de la Sierra, in the heart of the Grazalema Natural Park. We need a special permit to go canyoning in this area as it is designated as a place of natural beauty and is a UNESCO biosphere reserve. After a short trek to “Bocaleones” river viewpoint we walk to the little church where the canyon starts.
We start with a seven metre abseil, followed by a eight metre slide, then a nine metre abseiling point, the river track becomes narrower until we reach a three metres abseiling point, it is also possible to jump. From this point the water gets deeper but there is no risk involved and we eventually get picked up at small bridge.

“Las Buitreras” Is an amazing gorge which has plenty of water running through it throughout the whole year, even in summer time. This canyon has two or three abseiling points: the longest being of eight metres. The river path gets narrow and is very scenic in some parts. When we swim upstream, we can appreciate why this canyon is called “the cathedral of the Andalucian canyons”, because of its very high walls of polished stone. The canyon gets so narrow that at points we swim in near-darkness.
